HWY 49 AND THE TALLAPOOSA RIVER

Harley and I blessed the roads again Saturday while we waited for our favorite College game to start.  I'm very happy that our ride was much more satisfying than our score, but when your an Auburn fan... well, enough said.

HWY 49

Hwy. 49 has always been one of our favorite roads.  Even though it looks pretty straight in this shot, it's full of great curves and hills and the scenery is awesome.  This area is just south of the entrance into the Horseshoe Bend Military Park, which is another of my favorite places.

TALLAPOOSA RIVER

We watched some folks put their canoe in while we stood around stretching our legs and swigging on some sweet tea.  It was a beautiful day for activities of all kinds!

Have a great week everybody!

PIC OF THE WEEK - MITCHELL DAM AND THE RIGHT TO VOTE

Harley and I stopped and visited one of Alabama's many dams during one of our rides a few weeks ago. I'm always amazed at how these structures work and they're usually quite impressive, but I have a funny reason for posting this pic today.

MITCHELL DAM
It actually serves as a good visual aid for how I feel the direction of our Country has gone lately. I feel like I'm out there in the water being sucked in by forces stronger than me and beyond my control. I'm drowning... but I want to live!

Tomorrow is voting day. I'm tired of big government... I'm tired of being told what I need... and I'm tired of giving everything I earn to the undeserving. GO VOTE!!

...Or you'll be sucked through the intake like water under the dam!

Have a great week everybody!

PIC OF THE WEEK - DOWN BY THE RIVERSIDE

DOWN BY THE RIVERSIDE
Harley and I make a game of finding new places to stop and stretch our legs while we enjoy a few necessary swigs of hydration, but the Tallapoosa River in Tallassee has always been one of our favorite stops. You might remember the Fitzpatrick Bridge and the Thurlow Dam from my previous "What To See In Tallassee" post, but this was the first time we ventured right down to the river's edge. Usually, there are folks fishing and we tend to shy away from crowds. LOL!

While we were there, we noticed this handicap fishing platform. I've never seen anything like that before but I thought... "how cool is that?"

It seems we gravitate towards water often when we look for places to ride, and with the summer southern heat... I can't believe we haven't taken advantage of a quick dip when we find some.

Harley's been doing much talk lately of missing the pontoon boat and maybe we should consider trading in our Glides for another boat. WTF?? I'm trying to think of ways we can do both, since I'm not sure I'm ready for that yet.

Besides, I can't trade in the Glide yet... I haven't accomplished my dream!

Have a great Monday everybody!

REMINDER: Don't forget that today is H-D's sponsored "Million Mile Monday". Everybody ride today and don't forget to log in your miles! Another thing.... if you see a large pontoon boat rolling down the road, don't worry. That's just Harley... going to work. ;D
