Harley and I always found ourselves gravitating to the lakes and rivers when we rode our motorcycles around Alabama. His granddaddy had lake house with a marina on Lay Lake in Shelby County and it was fun to go back to that area and look at all the changes and improvements that took place over the years. We often made our way to the dam as a rest stop and watched the fishermen. This day produced some very brave folks as they maneuvered their little boats as close as they could for the best catch.
HAZARDOUS WATERS
If you look very closely, where the red brick of the building join with the dam walls, you'll see a small boat with some fishermen... standing! Okay... I'll blow it up for you.
VERY BRAVE FISHERMEN!
I was nervous just watching them! I decided right then and there, I would rather be riding a motorcycle on the road than manning that boat in these waters!
LAY DAM- SHELBY COUNTY, ALABAMA
I love to fish, but I think I'll stick to the bank... the water seems much calmer in this shot.
Have a nice week everybody!

PIC OF THE WEEK - MITCHELL DAM AND THE RIGHT TO VOTE
Harley and I stopped and visited one of Alabama's many dams during one of our rides a few weeks ago. I'm always amazed at how these structures work and they're usually quite impressive, but I have a funny reason for posting this pic today.
MITCHELL DAM

It actually serves as a good visual aid for how I feel the direction of our Country has gone lately. I feel like I'm out there in the water being sucked in by forces stronger than me and beyond my control. I'm drowning... but I want to live!
Tomorrow is voting day. I'm tired of big government... I'm tired of being told what I need... and I'm tired of giving everything I earn to the undeserving. GO VOTE!!
...Or you'll be sucked through the intake like water under the dam!
Have a great week everybody!

PIC OF THE WEEK - UNDER THE OL' SHADE TREE
When Harley and I are out ridin' the roads, we carry a collapsible cooler in the saddle bag with drinks. So unless we need fuel, when we take our breaks, we try to find a cozy place to stretch our legs and let me snap a pic or two. We'll usually try to look for places that have shade because if you've ever ridden in the south... our heat can be brutal. We were riding near Lay Lake a couple weeks ago and rode over to the dam where we found the perfect shade tree to take our break.
UNDER THE OL' SHADE TREE
While we were cooling off and letting the Glide catch their breath, I noticed another group of shade takers.
Just across a large grassy area and the parking lot, we noticed these geese enjoying the cooler effects of the shady tree themselves. So there we all were, standing or sitting under a big shade tree... cause it was just to hot to be anywhere else.
I hope you all had a nice weekend and here's to an even nicer Monday.
