FRIDAY FUNNY - LEAN ON ME

The family wheeled Grandma out on the lawn, in her wheelchair, where the activities for her 100th birthday were taking place. Grandma couldn't speak very well, but she would write notes when she needed to communicate.

After a short time out on the lawn, Grandma started leaning off to the right, so some family members grabbed her, straightened her up, and stuffed pillows on her right side.

A few more minutes passed when she started leaning off to her left, so again the family grabbed her and stuffed pillows on her left side.

Soon she started leaning forward, so the family members again grabbed her, and then tied a pillowcase around her waist to hold her up.

A nephew who arrived late came up to Grandma and said... “Hi, Grandma, you're looking good! How are they treating you?”

Grandma took out her little notepad and slowly wrote a note to the nephew...

“Bastards won't let me fart”.

REMEMBERING MY DAD

I just wanted to take some time today to remember my dad. It will be two years this coming February since he passed away, and not a day goes by that I don't have some thought of him.  Going through the year of "firsts" was terrible, but today being his second birthday in heaven, it feels good to be able to remember him and laugh over stories of him (which there are many, trust me!).

For me, my dad was my strength, my motivator, my provider... my hero. He was a firm believer in the motto..."spare the rod, spoil the child", but through it all, I always felt his love.  I'm very proud of the person I am today and I owe it all to him and my mom.  He was a man who lived as though family was the most important thing in his life.  It's amazing what that feels like.
To the man who started it all... my first motorcycle ride (I've shared this before, but here it is again).

And my most favorite picture of all, (probably because it's the last picture I have of me and him together) New Year's Eve 2009.

RIP Papa J - November 3, 1938 - February 20, 2010.
Thank you dad... for all you've done for me. Happy Birthday!

PIC OF THE WEEK - BLOGGER TRIPLICITY... PLUS MOM

While in Iowa helping my mom celebrate her big birthday, I had the honor and privilege of getting to meet, and hang out with two other amazing motorcycle bloggers; D-Day from Musings of a Contemplative Biker, and Stephanie, The Iowa Harley Girl.

BLOGGER TRIPLICITY... PLUS MOM!
Me, Dean, Stephanie and Mom

I started blogging four years ago and became friends with both of these inspiring and entertaining authors almost immediately. I was truly humbled that they would travel over three hours (for each of them!) just to spend their Sunday afternoon with me and my crazy family!

I'm really glad they did, cause we had a great time getting to laugh and carry on... in person! Fortunately, Dean and Steph don't scare easily so all was good. lol! Thank you to Miss K (Dean's lovely girlfriend) who gladly took our pic for us. I'm so glad to finally meet her too. You see... (whispering...) "she's one of my Mahong Trails Companions!"

I hope that when I go back to Iowa for Christmas, we'll be able to enjoy each others company once again. A night on the town would be just what Santa ordered!

Have a great week everybody!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!

Ya'll are just gonna have to excuse me a moment while I take this opportunity to wish my mom a great big... HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

This was taken a couple years ago but I can tell you, she still hasn't lost her zest for life! In fact, she and my Aunt (Hotline) just returned home from a week and a half long road trip together. They hopped in the car and drove from Dubuque, IA to Cody, WY so she could visit some of her family. We nicknamed them "Thelma and Louise" and told them... "just don't go near the Grand Canyon!" LOL!

BTW... we logged close to 200 miles that day... she took it like a champ!

Happy Birthday mom... I love you very much!!

Your favorite daughter,
Me! (Lady R)

OH NO... THE BIG FIVE-OH!!!

July 24, 1960
Once upon a time, a long, long, long time ago ... a rider was born. Her name was Baby Droolsalot. Baby D was a wonderful child and made her parents very happy.

When Baby D was just a little girl of 8 years, she experienced the sounds and feel of a motorcycle and knew then, that this awesome machine was going to be a key element in the happiness of life.

She grew up and became a motorcycle riding fool... hungry to ride every moment she could, resulting in her adult name... Lady Ridesalot.

Many, many, many... uh, many, years later, Lady R finds herself cruising through life, riding Harleys along side her very own Prince Charming, living happily ever after.

THE END

Harley and I are planning to spend my 1/2 century celebration riding, of course. We have two Poker Runs and a Rally scheduled in our reachable area this weekend, so we're still pondering as to which one (or ones) we plan to participate in. Either way, it's the best way to spend a birthday, if you ask me.

I still can't believe this monumental day has arrived... I'm too young to be 50!

Ride on and live happy...
