PIC OF THE WEEK - LITTLE RIVER CANYON

I gave Harley one of those digital picture frames for Christmas this year, and I've been blowing the dust off some old files to see what I want to load on it. In doing so, I came across several old ride pics that have inspired me to get back on my keyboard and write some cool road posts for ya. Hopefully, I'll be able to bring you something with more substance for a change, besides my Monday editions of "Pic Of The Week".

LITTLE RIVER CANYON
Little River Canyon is in North Alabama and runs through DeSoto State Park. A couple years ago, while cruisin' around this area, we saw two very brave guys preparing to repel down the side of one of these cliffs that line the river's canyon.
We stopped to stretch at the same overlook they were at, but the best view of them came a few miles down the road at another overlook.
Looks like fun but... I think I'll stick to riding.

BEST PIC OF THE WEEK FOR 2009

The poll for the best Pic Of The Week for 2009 is closed, and I want to thank those of you who voted. It's fun to find out what you think and I appreciate all of your opinions. So, without further ado, the winner is...

SUNSET ON THE MISSISSIPPI
This awesome sunset won first place, the "Double Arch Bridge" came in second, and "Cruisin' Round Moundville" took a respectable third. Thanks again for playing!

Today will be a holiday for some of you, and to you I say... have a great day off. I will be working... wishing I was riding. Have a great week everybody!

When I lived in Ga. I'd see that now and then. I was young and figured I'd try it one day. Bones tooooo old now. They must be trusting as they tied off on the wood of the man made fence. Geat post.

I guess I missed the pic of the week contest, but I think I would have picked the sunset pic anyway. Thanks for taking us so many beautiful places with your pics of the week!

Wait a minute. Something ain’t right. You gave the frame to Harley and now you’re deciding what pictures go in it? What’s up with that?

Webster... I'm not sure I ever was interested in rock climbing... or repelling. I was more into things that went fast! LOL! (ie... roller skates, bicycles, go-karts... you get the picture)

B.B... I'm happy to bring it to ya! Have a nice day!

redbone... I think we might try to get up there again this Spring. I love riding in the north Alabama and Georgia area. Sweet countryside!

Willy D... LOL! Well... he did give me plenty of direction, I can tell ya that! :)

I just can't wait to ride there... you know I plan to meet and greet with you so you can take me around! You have teased me enough with the pics all year... now I wanna see it in person.

I was to late on the contest deal to but enjoyed the fall colors on the water pic.
Alabama is a wonderful state top to bottom and has it all except desert. Wish I could get over to Shelby county to see the old farm but it's gone now I hear, turned into a shopping center and neighborhood. We had so much fun in the Pecan groves.

Kt... I hope your planning to stay a while! LOL!
I'm honored to be your Alabama tour guide. We have some great roads to ride and I think it's awesome as hell your coming this way!
Be sure and let me know when you think you'll be in our area. I can't wait to meet you.

Wooley... those trees were on a small lake at Mt. Cheaha. It's such a beautiful area to ride. Shelby county is only about an hour or so up the road from me. It's too bad that strip malls and new cookie cutout subdivisions are the demise of many beautiful countrysides. Reflecting on our memories of the good ol' days is all we have left sometimes.
I just hope I never lose my mind someday... it would be like picking up your scrapbook and finding it empty!

I missed the contest too...and I'm all set on repelling down a cliff. Yep...I'm with you Lady R...I'll stick to riding. Boy do I miss it already and I've only been garaged for about a month now. 3 more to go....eeek!

Joker... If it makes you feel any better, I've not been able to ride much either. Our weather has not been the best motorcycling weather since the first of the year. I'm getting my bike detailed right now anyway so, I keep looking at an empty spot in the garage... sniffle. So sad. :(

Congratulations again on the Mass win! I think it feels like we all won!

Baron... I hate to hear that! I hope you are doing well. Happy New Year to you and your family as well... and NO MORE ACCIDENTS!
