I'M STILL HERE!

In case any of you have seen news of our devastating tornadoes that hit the south yesterday, I just wanted to say, I am still here. Fortunately, Montgomery was far enough south, that all we experienced was some hard rain and wind.

I'm saddened, though, that I have many fellow Alabamians who are not so lucky.

Devastating Southern storms kill more than 250 - WSFA 12 News Montgomery, AL |

Please keep our unfortunate storm victims and their families in your thoughts and prayers... they will be needed.

On a good note, the bad weather has moved out it promises to be a glorious weekend. I'm on my way to Florida in the morning... Thunder Beach calls me.

Ride on!

Re picture: That thing is that close and those folks are taking pictures? I’d be looking for the deepest hole in the ground I could find. And fast!

I'm with Willy D! I'd be running like crazy and I don't run! Just glad you are okay and still so shocking to see the devastation! Prayers are sent and hope the recovery is quick.

Karen and I have been watching the news film footage since this morning of the devastation in your neck of woods. We're so glad that y'all are ok.

It's probably a good thing that I don't live down there. I'd be one of those nuts chasing the storm down.

Have a great time in Florida!

I did hear about this. I hope you and yours are all safe. My jaw dropped when I read about it. Best of luck down there, rebuilding and whatever else happens after such an incident.

This totally depends on the ride, I'd have to say. Now that I've driven my Kawasaki I'd be more inclined to take my father-in-law's Goldwing out for a run. But considering my only bike experience was on sub-liter class machines, it seemed like too much (particularly weight) when compared to my little machines.

I would agree, people worry a lot about wrecking machines. Be careful, know your limits. I would have reservations about jumping on an unrestored Vincent... but if they offer, consider saying yes.

Happy to hear you're OK. We have friends in The Sikeston, MO area that had 3"-4" of water in their house. They are in a motel for now.

Hey everybody!! I finally got my computer back so I can respond to your comments. (I just had a small power supply issue... all is well now)

I really appreciate all of your well wishes and concerns. My area did not suffer like Tuscaloosa and Birmingham did. We were very fortunate!

The residents of this fine state are pulling together and providing supplies and needed items like you wouldn't believe! Neighbor helping neighbor... it's a wonderful thing.

I'm just catching up here so... I just wanted to thank you all again for your concern. Y'all are the best! :)
