WINTER IN ALABAMA
Soul rejuvenation... straight ahead! This is Hwy. 21 in Wilcox County and was part of the ride I posted about yesterday. The bleak winter trees and overcast sky, makes it look cold, but it was only about 71 degrees on this day, January 3, 2009. However, we've been blessed with 30 to 40 degree temps for the last couple of weeks, so don't feel too bad. Have a nice Monday everybody!

Tree lined roads remind me of being in Louisiana down on Dad's property. Thanks for the memory.
This pic reminds me of some roads in Mass! Wow! Thanks for sharing. :)
Reminds me of some country roads in the Pacific North West.
Nice pic
Yes, it looks just like any backroad around here, except for the green grass. Here it'd be dead and sort of a yellow-khaki color, and right now, covered with about a foot of snow.
Winter in Alabama. I remember back in the fall of '83 when I was about to leave for 16 weeks of training at Ft. McClellan in Anniston, AL. Everyone was telling me I had it made because it's "warm down there ALL WINTER!!!" Yeah, right. When it gets cold down there, it's a raw, damp cold that I remember going straight through to your bones. I also remember one particular morning falling out in only sweats for PT when it was a whole 11 degrees. Brrrrrrr!
I LOVE hard-nipple weather, but NOT when surrounded by a bunch of men!
Great pic's. 40 sounds good. It was 6 below at 7:30 this am.
Looks like absolutely NO roads here in N.E. Ohio. They are all white cold and slippery. I envy you at this very moment.
Looks like all the roads around here. Except we still have green leafs on the trees.
AZ Dude... There's really a lot of southern Alabama that blends right in with Louisiana. We don't have as many Cajuns!
Ann... My friend who is from Mass, but lives in Panama City now, tells me that all the time.
Baron... I was born in Oregon, but was not there long enough to remember anything about it. I would love to visit up there.
Joker... the south is very fickle with it's temps. The ride I posted about Sunday was 71 degrees that day Jan. 3rd. Two day later it dropped to 30 degrees. Bounced back up to 55 to 60 for a couple days, just to plummet again to a freezing 18 degrees. At least if the roller coaster of temperature rises on the weekends, we can get in some nice riding time.
Webster... I only have one thing to say about that. NO THANKS! I'll relish in my 40 to 50 degree winters. Occasional drops in temp are not that bad. It's the day after day, week after week of it that I'm glad I don't put up with anymore.
OHR... I've known crazy riders to slap on some chains with spikes and go for it. I'll watch!
Willy D... Pretty scary, huh? Don't tell anyone, but I've designed a subliminal hidden hypnotic message in the picture. Any time anyone looks at this PIC OF THE WEEK, they will think they are looking at a road from their home town or where they grew up. I plan to send secret messages and thought stimulation through this media. Soon, I will control their thoughts, and their minds will be mine, all mine! Muwahahahaha!
Beautiful! It looks kind of like a straight Minnesota road without all the white stuff. Today we should reach a high of 7 degrees.
Mr. M... White stuff is detrimental to the ride! LOL!
I'm home for lunch right now, and it's 72 degrees out. I think I'm going to ride my bike back to work. I hope I don't accidentally run into any detours... 25 miles out of the way! LOL!
I hope Spring comes early in Minnesota!
Lady R: You sure you want inside of some of these minds ;]
Willy D. Hmmm. Might be the adventure of a lifetime. I'm always up for a thrill!
I think you Southerners, Californians and Desert Dwellers need to stop bragging about your weather. It's just not fair!
RC...Sorry, we can't help ourselves. :)
I'm just trying to do my share of "spreading the wealth". LOL!
ONLY about 71!!!! Why that down right hot riding where I'm from!!!
