I've ridden through the streets of Panama City many times, while playing with my pals during Thunder Beach and other summer weekends. I actually took the opportunity this past weekend to get a shot of one of the many beautiful "old south" streets in this historic area of town. This is in the Cove near St. Andrews Bay. I love how the moss hangs from these old trees like long flowing beards.
AND THE WINNER IS... !
We have a tie! Painted Desert and Southern Comfort came in tied for the win on the best PIC OF THE WEEK for 2008.
I want to thank every one who participated in my little voting poll. I did learn something valuable from this. No matter how funny a picture is, for those of us who like to ride... it's all about the scenery! Thanks again everyone, and have a nice Monday!

I loved driving through the south and seeing all the moss on our way to AZ. It's beautiful.
Great pic. The trees look kind of haunting, yet beautiful. One of these days, I'll head to the south east and check it out. I have been wanting to see some Kudzu in real life.
Jay & I were taking a walk last week down in Florida and he asked me what that crap hanging from the trees is called. My resoponse, "IDK, tree crap?"
....so, I guess its moss, huh? Thanks for the info. You learn something new every day.
Sorry...I have been preoccupied with "stuff". Painted desert for me but the other shot is amazing...ok, it's a tie
Pretty pics. The moss covered trees, and the Southern Comfort pics remind me of the movie Deliverance!
Great pic, kinda reminds me of home. Those trees seem to have a sad sense about them.
ann... the south is very pretty and rich with history. Makes for some nice rides.
masterchief... Come on down! There's lots to see and do in the south! Take you kiddo's to the beach and see some sights.
B. B... Thanks! Can you imagine living on this street. How nice to have such a pretty sight every day.
mrs. rc... yes, all that "tree crap" is moss hanging. I used to buy that stuff by the bag fulls at the Craft Store. One day, I decided I was going to save a little money and get my own. I was doing pretty good, until I noticed all the little Red Bugs in the moss. Yikes! I couldn't stop itching for days. As beautiful as it is... it's home for some nasty bugs!
dave... aw shucks! If I'd have known that you did not vote yet, I could have let you be our tie breaker!
YOU HEAR THAT EVERYBODY! DAVE SAYS PAINTED DESERT WINS!
LOL! I hope all your "stuff" is going well. If not, get on that Street Glide and go down the road. Don't come back until your smiling!
Mr. M... Thanks to that movie, I don't think anyone looks at canoeing the same way. Or Ned Beatty for that matter!
Swamps are pretty and mysterious. The "old south" has a romantic aura about it that's hard to describe.
TRT... as I said to mr. m., trees like this remind me of a romantic era long gone and lost. There's nothing prettier than riding down a road lined up with trees like these to make me feel like I'm riding through another time.
Hate we didn't get to see you while you were in town. Got a sick MIL in local nursing home counting her days, she'll be 89 in March and not doing so well so it's keeping us pretty close to home right now, then shift work too makes for limited free time. The cove has always been a favorite for us too. Seems to always be a lot of foot traffic and a nice walk to the bay.
One reason I fell in love with the south. Beautiful it is.
Down here they call it Spanish Moss. Not sure if it is the same stuff as up there, but i am sure it is at least close.
Love the two pics, but Montana still takes the cake for me. Gotta have a snow covered mountian in the background while heading down the road. LOVE IT!!
Bucky
Well, now you know that out of all your readers, there's only one tit man ;)
I know it's a little late, but I have to go with Painted Desert. I just have a hard time warming up to anything that reminds me of rain!
darlin... I hate to hear about the MIL. I'll keep her in my thoughts and prayers. Give Detail big a hug and tell we are thinking of him and his Ma. I got to see Flame while I was there. She joined me and some other gal pals of mine for lunch. Won't be long and we'll be getting ready to rally! Woo Hoo! Can't wait to see the gang! Later friend.
Webster... the south has a way of doing that, doesn't it? I don't think I could ever live back in the Midwest again after this many years of being here. I miss the snow at Christmas time, but that's about it. I love the sun and warmth. Especially these days!
bucky... I'm sure it's the same. I love how it drapes the trees and gives them a sad appearance.
I agree... mountain scenery would have to top many things.
Joker... I knew #3 was going to be your pic! No worries friend. Even though the scenery may take precedence, throughout the year I'm sure there will still be a pic or two just for you. LOL!
Irondad... I couldn't agree with you more. I'm trying to get a post finished of a nice ride we had that ended in soggy toes. I seem to be dragging my feet for some reason. Maybe cause they're still water logged. LOL!
