PIC OF THE WEEK - SENECA ROCKS
"Seneca Rocks is a large crag and local landmark in Pendleton County in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, USA. It is easily visible and accessible along West Virginia Route 28 near U.S. Route 33 in the Spruce Knob-Seneca Rocks National Recreation Area of the Monongahela National Forest. One of the best-known scenic attractions in West Virginia, the sheer rock faces of Seneca Rocks are a popular challenge for rock climbers." (copied from Wikipedia)
SENECA ROCKS
We got to this area on our third day of travel during the Reunion Ride. The view was awesome, but everybody who lived around there was without power and had been for three days as a result from a terrible storm. We were very fortunate to be able to buy gas!

Beautiful views. I couldn't imagine trying to climb the mountain, but I can see why rock climbers would try and conquer it.

That really is a beautiful part of the world to travel. I think people from my neck of the woods don't think much of WV or even VA, but there's a reason those hills belong to acoustic guitar and warm vocals. What a fun place to be.

This was a very pretty area, but I don't think I'd be doing any climbing either. In fact, we just watched a movie the other night that showed some climbers trying to escape from some bad guys. You can fall... and it ain't pretty!

One of the things I noticed while riding around the hills of VA and WV is how pretty those states really are. The hillsides aren't dappled with multi-million dollar homes either, but just regular modest dwellings. Made me think of the times I hear people say that these are relatively poor states. That might be true to when your counting dollars, but they have wealth beyond imagination with all the beauty that surrounds them. I could live there!

Nice to rediscover the incredible beauty of the south and southeast. Seems like western landscapes dominate the media these days, and they're nice, no question. So it's nice to leave the crowds behind out west and enjoy the views that you've brought back.

I think it's great that both of you managed some time together, away on your new bikes. It's like being re-born to an activity which you thought was "never to be", but it is and it is happening again, sort of like the good old days. Just take it slow and enjoy . . . and if you get tired "pinching" yourself, let me know

The western landscapes are beautiful, no doubt. But, it's nice to have a variety of geographic playgrounds for us all to enjoy. Our country is rich with mountains, beaches, forests, lakes, deserts, lush prairies and lots of wide open spaces... all within our borders!

I saw Seneca Rocks years ago on a weekend trip to Blackwater Falls- beautiful country there
I'll bet it looks good in real life.
We musthave just missed you. We were there on July 5th.
