PIC OF THE WEEK - HATCHET CREEK

If you've been reading my blog long, you may have seen pics of Hatchet Creek before. It's one of Harley's and my favorite rest stops while we're out toodlin' around the countryside.

CR 29 in Coosa County, between Titus and Weogufka is absolutely one of my favorite roads to ride on. It's a little piece of the Dragon right here in Alabama and we often stop at this bridge where Hatchet Creek and Swamp Creek join together.

HATCHET CREEK
Looking to the west.

Looking to the East.

The Autumn colors along this stretch of highway were just popping! Vivid reds and bright oranges and yellows would pop in and out of my peripheral vision causing me to swivel my head around like a bobble head doll! It was a refreshing ride in all respects... cool air, cool colors and miles of beautiful country road.

???
This road reminds me of a question mark, as if to say... what lies ahead?

Me? I know... I've been up that road before. (smiling...)

Have a great week everybody!

Lady R

Lady R,

May I include your Aug 2010 Chimney Rock photo in the UAB Sustainability website? I think it is a good demonstration of the "people" aspect of People, Planet, Profit (Triple Bottom Line definition of sustainability)? The website is non-commercial and intended only for educational and instructional purposes. I will credit the photo however you want.

OK, I’ve got to ask. Tit-us? We-o-gu-fka? What kind of names are those? What are you people smoking over there? Whatever it is, I could pick a few spots in those pictures to sit and enjoy it;)

Autumn/Fall is one of the few things I miss living in Singapore. But then again we never really had the changes in scenery in Australia that you guys have up there. But I do miss the crispness in the air that the season brings.

So nice pics! Here in Madrid you can see similar places in the countryside, every weekend it's full of bikers...
Nice blog.

Un saludo.

That curve is one of many! I just wish I could capture pics of it. There's a small creek that runs along side of the road before it dumps into Hatchet Creek and it's always playing peek-a-boo with me while I ride. Absolutely my favorite road!

James... I'm flattered you want to use my photo. Of course! I will email you with the information.

Mq01... It was about 47 degrees when we took off that morning, but warmed up to 70 by 2:00. Awesome weather!! I decked out in full leathers for the first time this year. It was nice to be cool and a great way to finally say goodbye to our heat!

Willy D... We have some real doozies (names) around here. I promise you, I'm not making that up! In fact... every time I go through Titus, I think to myself... this could be a blog post! LOL!
(BTW... the locals pronounce it, Tight-us)

Twitch... After the southern summer gets through baking us into crispy critters... the fall air is so welcome and such a relief! I miss a longer version of it (I grew up in Iowa) but I'll definitely take what I can get!
BTW... I would like to visit Australia sometime. I had a Grandpa that lived there for several years before he died. It's definitely on my bucket list.

Freebird... Thank you, and welcome! We saw several other bikes on the road last weekend too. We're all enjoying this cooler weather. Fortunately, unless we're at a rally or on a run, we have plenty of open road to ride without being crowded.

I love Pic. #3. To me, roads like that are the essence of why I ride.

Mr. M and SonjaM... Thanks!

I love road pics like these too. It's like your imagination can make up any story you want, to go along with it.
