SPRING HAS SPRUNG! My calender says today is the first day of Spring, and even though it's still a little chilly for some of you northerner's, it's what you've all been waiting for. I'm glad to know that you will finally be able to join me in getting in some of that long awaited road therapy.
I have been fortunate enough to live where I can ride all year long, and with the exception of a few very cold days, my Glide is always willing and ready for me to take her out for some two wheeled exercise. For the last couple weeks, riding to work has been a real pleasure. I can feel the change in the air and it's nice to ride again without having to get so bundled up.
With the arrival of Spring, however, also means the arrival of pollen (achoo!). We have a big Bradford Pear across the street from Tooth Factory, and even though it's very beautiful right now with all it's blooms, it likes to shower everything within a 50 yard radius with a fine green dust. I came out of my office the other day to go home, and I thought, "Yuk! Look at my bike!"
I tried to get a nice close up of the green dusty pollen all over every exposed surface of my Glide so you could see what I mean. Oh well, I guess that just mean I have to ride faster so I can blow it all off!
So, mount your Iron Steeds my friends! Spring has arrived! The soul needs rejuvenation and I can't think of a nicer way to charge your spiritual batteries, than riding around on two!
Ride on!

AARRRRRRGGGHHHHH!!!!!
YOU'RE KILLIN' ME!
Ms. Lady R: Yup it's spring alright. It's still rather cool here in the mornings as I head of to work at 35f. I know that would be COLD to you but to us that is in fact a spring morning temp. The up side is I washed my bike Tuesday and it is still clean, no snow crude anymore to mess Whiskey up.
Look at the bright side. That pollen is easier to get off then the tree sap that will be here soon. At least the Glide isn't covered in those bugs, whatever they were called.
fasthair
I'm not a lover of the pollen either, but I'll suffer through it in exchange for warmer weather. We've already had a few days here since I got back from AZ that bikes could get out. It won't be long now!
There's gonna be a whole crap load of bees trying to hump your bike! Bee Orgy!
Spring is in the air! As Issac Hays could only say, "The male humming bird gets behind the female humming bird and makes sweeeeetttttt love, and hummingbird passions rise, and the male hummingbird get his little hummingbird gravy all over the nest."
Happy Spring.
LOL-word verification "sionest"....what the hell is a sio.
Spring's definetly in the air...now, we're complaining about pollen...well folks...you can't have sex and remain a virgin too at the same time.
I say, let's get out there and do some serious riding now...not your partners...just your iron horses. Some great posts should ensue shortly...!
Dean... Sorry dude! Your time's coming!
Fasthair... You must be talking about the Love Bugs. Pollen is definitely less of a problem! My mornings have been about 45 to 50 degrees, but it's in the 70's by lunch time. I'm in leather during the morning ride in,and my Spring jacket by lunch.
Joker... Thank goodness I don't suffer from severe allergies. It's a killer around here right now. But, it you ride fast enough, the sh*t won't land on ya! LOL!
Dave... I wondered what that buzzing in my ears was. That cloud behind me was a swarm of horny bees! YIKES!
Baron... not complaining mind you. Just an observation! You won't see a little green dust keeping ME off the roads! Woo Hoo! Ride on!
BTW... You reminded me of a t-shirt my Mom used you have back when I was still a teen back home. It said on the front... "I'M STILL A VIRGIN". On the back... "THIS IS A VERY OLD T-SHIRT" LOL! She loved wearing that shirt. Crazy lady!
Pollen, pollen, pollen everywhere…well worth the trade off for the warmer weather…I think. Great blog!!! Buy you a can of Pig Spit
http://bigalscompound.blogspot.com/2009/03/motorcycle-product-review.html spray down the windshield and keep on riding.
Big Al
We're starting to get some pollen dust here, too. It won't be long before everything is covered in that crap! My allergies ARE severe, but I just pop a Clarinex and ride on! :)
Big Al... I saw your review on the Pig Spit already and yes, I'm planning to get some. I've mentioned to my hubby, because I've just replaced my windshield and I'm being very protective of it right now. I appreciate you sharing that info. I will have some on my bike before the weeks out!
One another note, I will take the pollen... WITH with warm sunshine any day!
Ann... There ya go! Make it part of your riding gear! LOL! Do you wear a bandanna around your face when you ride? Try it, might even moisten it first. This should keep any dusty debris from your mouth and nose. Get you one of those with a skull face on it so you can look like the Ghost Rider while you ride. (You'll have to figure out the flaming hair thing!) LOL!
Woo Hoo! Ride on Sista!
