PIC OF THE WEEK

ALABAMA REST AREA
I took a picture of this "out house" while we were taking a stretch break in Notasulga, Alabama last weekend. Believe it or not, it's marked as a Historical Building! How's that for preservation!

I'd rather not think about what could be "preserved" inside the building....

As we all know the function of that out house is very important. When needed it's like ahhhhhhhhh. But I gotta say. Historical Building only in Alabama. Why? Like did Lucy use it on the trip to California with Desi Fred and Ethel and she liked the decor or something?

It should only count as preservation if it still has an old Sears catalog with many missing pages.

That's how I remember them. Oh, that and being really cold on Christmas trips back to Louisiana.

I have a pict of one of those! They still use it too! I have always wanted to know what the heck was up with the cresent moon deal. Why is this the standard for outhouses?

Chessie... whatever you find in there, I'm sure will be petrified!

Webster... Hey, only in Alabama will they protect historical sh*t!

AZD... I would visit with my friend to her great grandma's house when I was just a kid. Great grandma still had an out house, (old country farm in IL) and every time I had to use it, I would get creeped out, afraid of spiders. I hate spiders! I got in trouble once, for going in the woods next to her house, cause I was too afraid to use the out house! Didn't see any Sears Catalog though.

Dean... I knew you would enjoy this! LOL!

dave... the story behind the moon as told to me was... The moon shape was cut out of the door to allow the moonlight to shine in the hole, allowing the patron to see inside the out house. Kind of like a night light. :)

masterchief... forever lost!

Willy D... No! I was looking around for ghosts! See today's post.

Allen... No banjos, but I did hear some scary moaning!
