HOW DO YOU PLEAD? NOT GUILTY!

Dear Diary... a glimpse into the pages of a journal written by a woman rider.

February 8, 2009
Dear Diary,
I got so lost in my own world today, it's amazing I even found my way back! H and I went riding again with no specific direction in mind.
The sky was so blue and bright, it was just way too pretty to pass up! I know I should feel guilty for running off and leaving things undone... but I don't!

I was happy to be in the wind, for the second day in a row. It felt good to wear my half helmet again as the warm air caressed across my face. The roads became our playground and we were like two kids at recess. We rode aimlessly, from one crossroads to another, deciding at each one which direction to take. To me, these are the best kinds of rides.

Every now and then, a nasty little thought would creep into the corner of my mind, reminding me of the laundry piled up on the floor, and dirty dishes still in the sink. Maybe I should be ashamed of myself... but I'm not. I was having too much fun! I giggled out loud as I realized Dr. Suess was dancing around in my head...

I do not care
those dishes are there.
I do not care
they're there, I swear!

Do not fear
I'm in no quandary.
I simply love,
my piles of laundry!

Oh, I was having a blast! I couldn't feel guilty if I tried. The only one that could put me in the dog house for not doing my chores, was in front of me, leading the way, having just as much fun and I was!

The pleasure I get
from riding my Glide,
The joy I feel
I cannot hide!

If given the choice
to work or play,
I'll be riding the roads
again on that day!

Yep, like I said, I was in my own world today.

Are we to assume you did this with out going to a 60's candy store. Enagadaahveda

Wadda mean guilty for not getting things done? Riding “is” one of the things that needs to be done. Without taking care of your sanity, everything else is moot. Dr. Suess would be proud ;)

You know, I've seen a fair amount of what I'd call "attempts" at biker poetry from reading blogs and other biker publications online over the last year. I can't say I really liked any of it, until now, and I'm not just saying that cuz we're buds...

That was really well written. Keep it going. I'm jealous as hell of you and H, but we're making progress. I actually see little patches of ground starting to break through the blanket of snow. I figure another 6 - 8 weeks :(

Word Ver: "rebumbu" WTF??

Ms. Lady R: The pile of dirty clothes on my floor never entered my mind while I was out riding this past weekend. I must have my priorities in order I guess.

Thanks for sharing your diary with us.

Lady R,
To ride or work, was quite quandry, you made the right choice...screw the laundry.

If some disagree your priorities were wrong, I say they need to sing a new song.

I wish we could ride together sometime, It would be a blast. Maybe this month at Bike week...yes, its coming fast.

My rhyming may not be as cool as yours, it's because my bike is in the shop, and I am stuck doing chores!!

I hope you have a great day, and until the next time I write, keep the rubber side down, and dont let the road gremlins bite.

I enjoyed this post Lady R...
Guilt should be left to those who have something to be ashamed of. Dishes and laundry are two of the "little things" we shouldn't sweat.

Lovely wording, I enjoyed myself here today!

Lady R is not home, the house is a mess, she's riding her bike, to where I can't guess.

So blink your eyes twice and pull on your thumb, the house work and laundy all will be done.

Thing 1 and Thing 2 will have it finished, I bet, so keep riding your bike into the sunset.

Enjoy life while you can. Don't sweat the small stuff. Words of wisdom to live by.

I really enjoyed riding along today!

Ohhh to be riding on a sunny Alabama day! Stuck on a hill top in Afghanistan I envy you. I guess when I get home sometime in March I will have to ride down to "Sweet Home Alabama" and make the dad and brother ride with me.

There seems to be a lot of motorcycle related poetry going on. Someone needs to make a compilation. I liked it by the way. I may have to try my hand at it in the future. Thanks for sharing it. I feel that people sometimes don't realize how much courage it takes sometimes to post personal / transperant stuff.

Ride on,
Torch

Lady R: I was going to try my hand at a poem, but I knew I couldn't top what you wrote. So, rather than embarrass myself I will settle for just enjoying your lines.

I like the Dr. Seuss comparison. Perfect for a non-guilt day of riding when you think like a kid. Giggle away and ride like crazy. Those dishes and laundry will be there when you get back.

What do you mean feeling guilty? riding is a religious ceremony for:
Four wheels move the body, two wheels move the soul.
Love your poetry..thanks for sharing it with us.

I meant this as a complement as I think that period was some of the greatest writing of songs. As songs are poetry. Givin the candy store or not:) This is awesome. And yes you should not feel guilty.

Webster... Hmmmm. 60's candy store sounds pretty interesting! LOL! And thanks for putting a cool song in my head. One of my favorites! :)

Willy D... I knew that's what the good Dr. Wrench would have ordered. I'm all better now, Thanks!

Joker... Dr. Suess has always been on of my favorites! I'm flattered you think my "poetry" is all that. Sorry the snow isn't melting fast enough for you. We've actually been having a few really warm days here, but I know the other shoe will drop soon. It's too early in the year to think we are through with the cold, cause we're not. I liked Allen's post over at Madding's Musings that's titled,
"We interrupt this winter with a few nice riding days". This is just a little interruption for more cold, I'm sure.

Fasthair... LOL! I guess my priorities are lined up alright after all. I wasn't doing laundry wishing I was riding, that's for sure! Clean socks are way over rated! LOL!

Bucky... Bravo! I loved your poem too! Especially the part of telling the "others" to sing a new song. Sorry to hear about the bike. Just maintenance, or problem? I'm riding to work today so I can take mine in later and have a new windshield put on. I may post a tidbit about my new choice. I'll let it be a surprise. Thanks for the great poetry response. You can tell we come from the same goofy genes! LOL!

Chessie... your so right. Every now and then I have to slap myself and tell me to get a grip. I have a sign hanging in my house that says, "Housework done properly will kill you". I live by that motto!

Materchief... Thing 1 and Thing 2 are my new best friends! I just hope they don't eat much.

Dean... Most definitely good words to live by. And I try to follow them daily. As I told Fasthair above, at least I wasn't home doing laundry and wishing I was riding, so I must be doing something right. LOL! Thanks!

Open Road Biker... What's your weather like there right now. I imagine it gets really cold at night.
If you ever come riding through my stomping grounds, you need to let me know. We could sure enjoy riding some sunny Alabama highways!

Torch... I think everybody has a little poetry in their soul. The nice thing about it, is there's really no right or wrong about poetry. It's whatever the author wants it to be.

AZD... you may surprise yourself, but I thank you just the same. Glad you enjoyed my little rendition of Dr. Suess and guilt free riding.

KT... You know it girl! I have never been one to worry about winning any Home and Gardens Good Housekeeping awards. Not when there's fun to be had, and riding fits right in that category!

Baron... Thank you! I love that quote, and I love a good soulful ride. Nothing better!

Webster... I knew where you were coming from. No worries! In fact, I'll tell you a little secret. I checked these comments yesterday, but I just didn't have time to respond until this morning. All day yesterday, I had that song in my head. LOL!

Enagadaahveda baby!

I'm glad I'm not the only one that gets Dr. Seuss stuck in her head every now and then!

no kidding. Yesterday I went up to the corner Pub. I'm telling Biker Bob about blogging and brought your post and KT Did's. I was talking about the candy part when this pretty young thing sitting next to me asked "What do you mean 60's candy?" So I told her how it's said that Enagadadavida was supposed to be "In the garden of Eden" but they were so high it came out as it do and history was made. Then the bar maid said there is free play on the juke box. So the gal gets up to go play it out. It's the new kind of juke so you can play about any song ever done. She says "Who sang it?; the first song..you bet Enagadadavida. Thank God it was the short verion:) Oh and no shit spell check corrected said song.lol

Lady,
My bike had a recall on the fuel tank. Apparently they can leak and catch fire...or something like that, I dont know, not really pating attention. I had to have the tank tested for leaks and they had to do a modification on the mounting to the frame. All back now and went for a ride last night. Can't wait for Daytona. Meeting Bear over ther for Bike week. Going to stay a few days and NO KIDS...Yahoo!!

Ann... Dr. Suess probably lives in everybody's head if truth be told! LOL!

Webster... Did you know that Ina-godda-da-vida (that's how google had it) was classified as the first "Heavy Metal" music. Not bad for the son of a church organist. I think it's great music, all 17 minutes of it!

Bucky... I hope you have a great time in Daytona. No can do for us, we already have some other plans in the works for the next couple months that's going to keep us busy. Tell Bear I said hi and ya'll have a fun time. And send some pics!

Ok...when you say "screw what I have to do. I need to ride.", you have reached the heights of bikerdom. You are a certified road-whore now! Congrats!

Enjoyed the post. I see bugs in your teeth so you must have been smiling.

Dave... Well, if that's the only criteria, then I've been whoring around a lot lately. LOL! I just can't bring myself to stay home and do chores when the day is calling out to us to ride through it!

When the day comes, that doing dishes makes the hair stand up on my neck, or the dirty laundry puts a giggle in my heart, I'll stay home and do these things. Until then... (taking one of your favorites expressions) pfffttttt!
