FINDING MY NITCH

I'm the type of person who really doesn't want people to think I'm unhappy.  For the most part, I'm the one making sure everybody is laughing and having a good time. I've been accused of being very goofy at times, but hey... if the shoe fits, I'll wear it.  Being the class clown is a big responsibility and once you've been dubbed... you better deliver. Nothing drives people crazier than a sad clown!

I dream of the day I will swing my leg over the iron saddle again, but in the meantime... I've been giving some serious consideration to my writing. I enjoyed creative writing in high school, so I decided the way I was going to kick the sad clown to the curb was to get busy!

As I mentioned in a previous post, I started following fellow blogger, Donna over at 2 Taking a 5th.  She posted about a fiction writing contest on Indies Unlimited, a blog comprised of independent authors. I entered my first writing competition a couple weeks ago and just posted my second this past Saturday.  I would like to invite you to take a look at the entries, as some of them are quite good.  We all like a good short story, right?  This is a great way to enjoy a good read and show your support to some very talented writers that just want to get their words out there. Like me!

Please follow the link below and vote for who you think has the best story.  Poll closes on Thursday at 5:00 PM MST.. Thanks!

Writing Exercise Competition Week 7 Voting: Remorse

Giving up my motorcycle has not been the easiest thing to adjust to, and in spite of remaining committed to my decision not to ride without Harley, it has not been without intermittent episodes of my own remorse.  However, I've been looking back on this blog and discovered that I missed telling stories.  Stories about places and life on two wheels, with words of passion and poetry.

It took a bit of time, but I realized one thing.  The subject material may change, but the joy of writing doesn't have to stop.  I have new dreams and new goals and I'm excited about something again.

I'm excited about writing...
     it makes me happy.

I'm excited about finding my nitch...
     the class clown is back.

I am glad you are getting your groove back.

It is sad that you haven't ridden in a while but I completely understand you doing it in support of Harley.

Good luck on your writing contest. Fingers crossed.

Maybe you can trike it when you get more comfortable, but in the meantime, I like the fact you enjoy writing and didn't give that up.

Your story gave me goose bumps and brought a lump to my throat. Guess who got MY vote (and right now you are number ONE). Well done...I look forward to reading more stories.

PS. Consider turning off the word verification on your blog, Blogger does a great job of filtering spam now. I've had mine turned off for quite a while. Makes it easier for folks to comment.

Lady Di:

++111 to Froggi. I turned off my word verification, recently too. Those double words are taxing the eyes.

I think I know how you feel about riding, and also being with Harley. I am sort of the same as you as Mrs Skoot doesn't ride but I make a concession to leave Sundays free as a NON riding day. Also there is a problem with bike vacations, as I have to go alone so I have to devote other vacations to NON bike vacations which means road trips or fly somewhere and rent a car. It's all about compromising . . .

While many others have built-in riding partners, I have to talk to myself and sometimes I just don't feel like it

Trobairitz,

Me too!

However, I still look out my window at work every time I hear a motorcycle goes past our office. I'll probably always miss it.

Thank you my friend. I was really trying to make it a bit more moving this time. My last entry was not as emotionally driven as this one was.

Mine are so crossed, they are going numb!

Remaining hopeful,
Dianna

Donna...
Awww, thank you so much. My goal was to make the reader feel the remorse that Jackie was feeling. I guess I did better on this exercise.

Thank you for the advice on the word verification. I just turned it off. ;}

I appreciate your kind words and thanks again for inspiring me!

Mr. Bobskoot,

Harley and I sure thought we had it made. Both of us doing what we loved to do... together. It was great fun while it lasted. As long as we still have each other, we will make it through anything.

And... he has been my biggest supporter to keep writing. He knows how much I enjoy it. He also teases me to hurry up and produce a #1 best seller so we can run away to the mountains and reap the wealth while I work on my second one. LOL!

If I'm going to dream... I'm dreaming big!

staying hopeful,
Dianna
