PIC OF THE WEEK - OBJECTS IN MIRROR...

I've been reminiscing a lot lately over our past riding adventures.  When Harley had his wreck this past Spring, it was clear that his riding days were definitely on hold, if not permanently expired. Since we are the kind of couple that deals with life's ups and downs together, I made my very difficult decision to support him and not ride... for now.  He's been doing very well, but his strength and limberness has been severely compromised.  Daily activities serve as constant reminders that he would have a very difficult time trying to ride right now and not be a danger to himself or others.

That's not to say that I've not been missing our weekly adventures because I have... big time!  I've been looking over old ride pics and found these that were taken during a chilly ride back in January of 2010.

Harley was always my go to man, as he was great at catching good pics on the fly.  I miss riding my Glide, at times, so much it hurts. But then, all I have to do is take a nice long look at Harley and realize there is more to life than motorcycles. Thank you God, for helping me keep that in perspective.

Have a nice week everybody!

Lady R:

You are a good person, compassionate, empathetic, understanding. (I'm getting teary eyed now). Mrs Skoot doesn't ride so I also make compromises with our time and I reserve Sunday as a non riding day.

Harley is soo lucky to have you

Life is better with motorcycles, but it is best with your lifemate.

I am glad that you and Harley have each other and you are there to love and support him in his recovery, even though it is bikeless recovery.

I am sure he appreciates it too.

Bucky... I know. He kinda grows on ya. ;}

There's no doubt, I'm very thankful for him, but I hate it when my memories of what it feels like to ride, haunt my mind... and spirit. Tough decision are not always easy to live with.

Thanks brother, I love you too.

Mq01... I'm sorry. Saying goodbye sucks. (hug)

Living your life to the fullest is the only way to live, and I'm eagerly exploring new avenues to continue just that. It's not to say I don't have a hiccup now and then, and find myself kicking my own ass out of a pity party, but there IS more I want to do.

It's like you said, my memories are good ones... it's just time to make more!

Webster... Thank you my friend. I try to be, even if it's not always fun and games... he's still the one for me.

Doing something big for someone palatable... if you love them.

Bobskoot... Awww, I appreciate your comment and compliment.

I'm just as blessed to have found Harley. No matter how mad I've ever gotten at him, he's always been my very best friend and we continue to love each other... even through all the bad stuff.

I miss riding, but as long as Harley and I can seek out our new adventures together... it's all good.

Blessed beyond belief,
Lady R

"Life is better with motorcycles, but it is best with your lifemate."

That's exactly what keeps me in check. When I start feeling sorry for myself about not riding, I imagine my life without Harley. Suddenly, it feels so much more empty and sad, and I realize it's not worth the trade.

Lucky in love,
Lady R

Motorbikes are like songs to me. Some people can relive a part of their life when they hear a song that takes them back.

I relive portions of my life when I see certain motorcycles. There is one for every moment.

Hope you two enjoy every minute...whether that's on two or not. Remember though: "Every moment of your life is a serious risk. What are you gonna' do with it?"

feeling for you both LR. I guess I'm not out there enough myself. Someday I'll have to give it up just cause I'm too phyically broke. But it's better to have rode than to never have rode at all! I'm hoping Harley gets back up to his old self.

Dave... good to hear from you! You hit the nail on the head with your quote and Harley and I are doing our best not to waste it (our lives, that is!)

He and I were just talking about riding again at lunch yesterday. Sadly, he still has just enough discomfort and pain to know that he wouldn't have the strength yet handle an uneasy situation on a bike, if one came up. We are both very disheartened with his strength regaining progress. (It's hell when you get old!)

He teases me all the time now, that he's afraid I'm going to whip his ass! (and he's not meaning the fun kind!) lol!

There's no doubt, that when I hear motorcycles, I'll be reminded of my 8 glorious years of life on two. It was a blast while it lasted.

What next? We keep talking about campers and boats. Hmmmmm... time will tell.

Eve... "But it's better to have rode than to never have rode at all!"

Amen sista! I keep telling myself that.

My brother told me once... "Look at it like a pro football player... You had a good ride, and you got out while your still on top of your game." He explained how all my memories are good ones and I can cherish this chapter of my life with no regrets. He made an excellent point, and that has helped me through my transition as a non-rider. Gee... I hate the way that sounds... non-rider. I new the day would come, I just wasn't quite ready for it.

Another note... someone else very dear to me told me once... "If you want to give God a good laugh, just tell him your plans." I need to remember that. I'm very blessed that it wasn't in his plan to take Harley that day.

Enjoy your life... everyday is a blessing!

I don’t understand what you mean when you say that you can’t go riding. You still have a Harley don’t you? Go ride em’! ;)

Lady R (Di) said...

Willy D... Awww, man... why are you calling me out like that?

Sure I can still ride... lot's of folks out there are riding old Harleys more beat up and broken than mine, so I guess I shouldn't complain, right?

... even if it hurts so good. ;}

Dear Lady R.:

I have learned to never say "never," not while there is an ounce of piss and vinegar left in me. As long as there is one good smile left between you, another wild stunt is possible.

Love is a many splended thing, or so I've heard and you kids are proving that. But, isn't that naked fingers I spied in the mirror on that crisp day?

Dear Mr. Riepe,

A wild stunt?? ...definitely possible.

Probable?? ...guaranteed!
