EAT, DRINK AND BE MERRY! ANGEL CITY RALLY... PART 2

I know most of you reading this are probably thinking... "If you've been to one rally, you've been to them all." I can pretty much agree with that statement, but for us... it's all about the people. It gives us a chance to come together with our good friends and enjoy each others company. We don't get to see each other as often we would like, so using the rally as a venue for a friendly get together is just a bonus. Besides, it gives us a great excuse to... eat, drink and be merry!

EAT...
When my pal the Road Runner is in attendance, you can be sure some finger lickin' good cooking will be taking place. He had his smokers going all weekend long and the smell in our campsite was divine! We had chickens, we had ribs, we had Boston butts... enough food fit for a King, and if you don't believe me, just take a look!

My friend, Shooter made a joke the day we were packing up to leave, that we all ate so much, we'll wake up Monday morning with ear tags on! Moooooo!

DRINK...
Speaking of Shooter... here she is making our favorite treat... jello shots!
Shooter and Perfect Timing made sure we all had another plentiful batch of jello shots for that evening. We also can thank Dallas for supplying us with all the peach moonshine we could drink. Yeowsa!

... AND BE MERRY!!
And merry we were! We all had a wonderful time and we laughed just about the whole weekend! Sometimes, I think you could plop us down right in the middle of hell and we could find a way to have fun! I decided a slide show was in order to capture our amazing rally experience. Notice all the smiles!

Well, there you have it... one big happy weekend! I can't wait for next year!

Harley and I owe our friends a great big thank you for taking such good care of us for the weekend. Since we rode the bikes over to the rally site, we couldn't carry anything but ourselves and some extra duds. Our pals made sure we were covered with everything we might need and then some! Thanks guys! We really appreciate you!

Until next time... party safe and ride hard! Woo Hoo!

PIC OF THE WEEK - LET THE GAMES BEGIN!

No rally is complete without the chance for riders to show off their skills and great sense of humor with the ever popular biker games and Angel City was no different. There was fun all around and I couldn't pick just one, so I decided to devote multiple pics for today's Pic Of The Week choice. So without further ado... Let the games begin!

THE SLOW RIDE
Trying to get to the finish line... last!

THE WIENNIE BITE
This gal took that dog off the fork with ease. I hope she liked mustard!

BABY BOTTLE RACE
It seems the guys really liked this game... and I can see why! It's hard to see them in this picture, but the men were holding baby bottles with beer in them, between their legs. The first girl to empty her bottle, wins.

The winners! I guess that mustardy footlong made her really thirsty.

There were more games and contests of skill throughout the weekend, but this was all I was able to capture. I stayed pretty active during the weekend myself and didn't worry about keeping any schedule. Woo Hoo!

If you didn't catch my post yesterday, be sure and go back and take a look. Just click here... A BIG THUMBS UP! ANGEL CITY RALLY... PART 1.

Part 2 coming real soon. In the meantime... have a great Monday everybody!

A BIG THUMBS UP! ANGEL CITY RALLY... PART 1

Most of you know, my posse of pals and I met up at the Angel City Rally last weekend in Unadilla, GA. In spite of my humorous tongue in cheek Pic Of The Week sporting my handsome Angel City pole dancer, we all give this rally a big thumbs up! The event organizers and creator of Angel City went above the norm to provide a great venue for our weekend of biker revelry.

Most of the rallies I've been to are often out in a big freshly cut hay field somewhere, allowing us all to have fun without being an endangerment to the general public (who... us?). This can get tricky sometimes, maneuvering motorcycles around large choppy stalks of leftover debris, especially after the spirits begin to flow (Hence the necessary use of golf carts at the bike rally!). Here at Angel City, we were still out in the country, tucked nicely away from the less adventurous, but the facilities were far superior to some of the other venues I've experienced.

Angel City is themed after an old western town and was created just for motorcycles. The town is laid out like a crossroads with a saloon on every corner and old creaky boardwalks that lead you to several storefronts where vendors can set up shop. They had the usual leather shops, jewelry, t-shirts, and tattoo parlors along with lots of other cool bike related interests.

A blacktopped one way path, is laid out through town and around the stage in a star shape providing a large center area to stable the bikes. Even though our campsite was close enough to walk, it was fun to ride your iron horse through town at least once while you're there.

... my friend Darlin' demonstrates, as she takes a cruise through town.

The stage is strategically positioned right in the center of town with two large pavilions providing shade and picnic tables. No price gouging here folks, as food and drinks were very reasonable, and in addition to the Saloons, they had several stations setup that served, so you never had to wait in any long lines. We brought enough food and drink fit for a King, but occasionally we found ourselves "in town" without a cold one so buying one from them didn't hurt so bad.

It didn't hurt so bad for the guys to buy the rounds either... hmmm, I wonder why.

The campgrounds encircle the entire town with nicely packed dirt roads that weave throughout the different camping areas allowing movement much safer. RV parking has water and electrical hookups and the tent camping had really nice portable showers. We were very close to town, so it was extremely convenient for us to walk back and forth.

Here, at our home away from home, we had a great time just hangin' with friends and creating another chapter of awesome memories. Our decision to try this new venue (for us anyway) was a good one, as we all unanimously agreed... we will definitely be back.

Stay tuned for Part 2 and more Angel City Rally fun... I haven't even gotten to the good part yet.

THE BEST DRUNK STORY OF THE MONTH

My good friend EM sent me this funny story, and since SOME of you out there didn't fully appreciate my pole dancer from Angel City, I figured I would offer my apologies with the best drunk story of the month. I'm still working on my rally post, but this is just too funny not to share. Enjoy!

A drunken man walks into a biker bar, sits down at the bar and orders a drink. Looking around, he sees three men sitting at a corner table. He gets up, staggers to the table, leans over, looks the biggest, meanest biker in the face and says...

"I went to your grandma's house today and I saw her in the hallway buck naked. Man, she is one fine looking woman!"

The biker looks at him and doesn't say a word. His buddies are confused, because he is one bad biker and would fight at the drop of a hat. The drunk leans on the table again and says...

"I got it on with your grandma and she is good, the best I ever had!"

The biker's buddies are starting to get really mad, but the biker still says nothing. The drunk leans on the table one more time and says...

"I'll tell you something else boy, your grandma liked it!"

At this point the biker stands up, takes the drunk by the shoulders, looks him square in the eyes and says...

"GRANDPA...... GO HOME!!"

You see... dirty old men need love too!

Have a nice Wednesday everybody!

PIC OF THE WEEK - ANGEL CITY POLE DANCER

Harley and I just had a wonderful weekend at the Angel City Rally over in Unadilla, GA. I have lots to tell you about this great location and all the fun that was had, but you'll have to give me some time to pull it together for ya. A weekend full of fun and frolic takes a lot out of a person. Shew! In the meantime... just a little teaser.

ANGEL CITY POLE DANCER
This jolly fella was setting up for the "wiennie bite" when he noticed me and my camera. He was quite amusing when he realized he had an audience and very eloquently showed off some of his pole dancing skills.

Spending a couple of fun filled days with some great friends topped off with an awesome ride over and back... it just doesn't get any better than that. Stay tuned for future posts of my Angel City Rally experience.

Have a nice Monday everybody!

PIC OF THE WEEK - DOGWOODS ON THE LAKE

Lake Martin has some really nice roads leading to and around it, and Harley and I consider this area as one of our favorite places to spend a Saturday. We often stop near the Kawliga Bridge and take a stretch break and I'll try to snap a few pics of anything I see interesting.

DOGWOODS ON THE LAKE
On our ride this past Saturday, I noticed how pretty the dogwoods were, full of their regal white blossoms, a sure sign that Spring was in full swing. I tried to capture their beauty as we stood by the water's edge.
We were very bad this weekend, as we spent both days puttin' around on the Glides... and our chores still remain undone. We couldn't help ourselves, the weather was just too pretty not to get out and ride in it... so we did.

I guess that means I'll be like a demon possessed for the next four days, so I can get us ready to go to Angel City this Thursday. Life was much simpler before we got Harleys! So much to do... so little time.

Have a great week everybody!

ANGEL CITY RALLY

Shine your scoots and don your boots... it's rally time! Woo Hoo!

When... 6:00 PM, Wednesday, April 14th through Sunday,April 18th.

Where...

Angel City! The first town built specifically for bikers! Located off I-75 Exit 122 in Unadilla, Ga.
We plan to load up the Glides and ride over to Angel City for the Angel City Rally next weekend and enjoy a much deserved play date (weekend!) with our other biker pals. This will be the first rally for us since Spring has sprung and I'm looking forward to the nice long ride across the state line and spending a relaxing few days with some really great friends.

Our usual "Spring Fling" is down in Holt, FL at the Emerald Coast BikeFest, but we all decided last year we would try another rally, so... this is the first time our group is congregating at this event. The entertainment promises to be pretty sweet with Stacie Collins, The Skeeterz, Big Engine, and Blistur just to mention a few. I hope to bring you a good report!

Ride smooth... or ride rough... just ride!

HOW TO BE A GRACIOUS BITCH

Janet's wedding day was fast approaching. Nothing could dampen her excitement - not even her parent's nasty divorce.

Her mother had found the PERFECT dress to wear, and would be the best-dressed mother-of-the- bride ever!

A week later, Janet was horrified to learn that her father's new, young wife had bought the exact same dress as her mother! Janet asked her father's new young wife to exchange it, but she refused. ''Absolutely not! I look like a million bucks in this dress, and I'm wearing it,'' she replied.

Janet told her mother who graciously said, ''Never mind sweetheart... I'll get another dress. After all, it's your special day.''

A few days later, they went shopping, and did find another gorgeous dress for her mother.

When they stopped for lunch, Janet asked her mother, ''Aren't you going to return the other dress? You really don't have another occasion where you could wear it."

Her mother just smiled and replied, ''Of course I do, dear. I'm wearing it to the rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding.''

(NOW I ASK YOU - IS THERE A WOMAN OUT THERE, ANYWHERE, WHO WOULDN'T ENJOY THIS STORY?)

Compliments of my pal G Man... via email. He's such a funny guy!

Still smilin'...

PIC OF THE WEEK - MOUNTAIN CREEK POST OFFICE

I hope everyone had a great Easter! Saturday was overcast and kept the high 70's temp feeling cooler than it actually was, but Sunday was the kind of day everyone orders for Easter. Sunny, blue skies and above 80 degrees!

We took off on the Glides for a long Saturday ride and we found ourselves taking a short break at one of our frequent stops, The Confederate Memorial Park in Mountain Creek, AL.

MOUNTAIN CREEK POST OFFICE
The Confederate Memorial Park preserves the site of the Alabama Old Soldiers Home for the Confederate Veterans. The 102 acre park includes a museum, research facility, historic structures, ruins and two cemeteries containing over 300 Confederate soldiers. The Mountain Creek Post Office provided service to the Alabama Old Soldiers Home during 1902 to 1939 before the complex was closed.

There's a lot more about this place I want to share and I seem to take pictures of something else every time we stop there, so I will prepare a deserving post of this cool historic landmark for you soon.

I hope the Easter Bunny was good to everyone, but remember... the bunny does NOT deliver raisins! You've been warned!

Have a great Monday everybody!

HAPPY EASTER... FROM LONG AGO

Matthew 28: 5-7
The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you."

HE HAS RISEN... HE HAS RISEN INDEED!

My family (before my youngest brother was born) right before church on Easter Sunday back in 1969.
I thought I was high stylin' with my matching pink bonnet and dress... and check out my shiny new shoes! (NO... they didn't come off a pilgrim!) But no one was smoother than my little bro in his "little big man" suit.

Easters from long ago meant dressing up for church, enjoying a nice big dinner, then getting together and hunting Easter Eggs all afternoon with my cousins. Through the years, it's fun to watch the generations evolve from hunters to hiders, back to hunters again. The kids love hiding eggs for the adults too!

However your spending your holiday, I hope you have a nice one.

Happy Easter... from my family to yours!

SURPRISE!!

SURPRISE... THERE'S NO SURPRISE!!

It's just not my style to lay low on April Fool's Day and I want to thank all my loyal readers who came back after lunch yesterday to see what my big surprise was going to be. By the comments that were left, it didn't appear that I fooled many of you. But... I'll let the evidence speak for itself.

Glider Rider's SiteMeter

Hmmmm.... according to my SiteMeter, it seems like some of you were curious after all.

I hope you had fun yesterday and got to dish out a few "gotcha's" of your own. I let April 1st sneak up on me this year and I had to scramble at the last minute to think of some way I could "fool" my readers. I think the little prank I pulled last year was the best. For those of you who are new to my blog, check out my post, Lady R Goes Draggin'.

Easter weekend is upon us and the weather promises to be absolutely fabulous! Harley and I plan to enjoy a nice long Saturday on the Glides and then spend some family time with his family on Sunday.

Watch for peeps and don't eat too much chocolate! Hoppy Easter everybody!
