PIC OF THE WEEK

About five years ago, Harley and some pals took a boys trip down to the everglades and the Key West area. The original destination of this particular trip was to go to a Nascar race at Homestead, but they found themselves with plenty of free time to explore other places of interest while they were in the area.

FISH CAMP
IN THE EVERGLADES
This little cabin seems like the perfect place to spend a quiet peaceful weekend and fish till your hearts content. The kind of place you can go to and nobody knows how to find you. The kind of place that is so secluded that your cell phone will be nothing but dead weight on your belt. Sounds nice, heh?

The only problem is... this is the only way to get here.
That's right... they had to park the bikes and hop on board this air boat, but they said riding on that thing was an awesome good time! I've never been on one, but I can assure you, I would definitely enjoy taking my turn!

I enjoyed a busy girls weekend with some PC girlfriends, and Harley also enjoyed his kitchen pass down there on a poker run with the guys. Since I didn't get much riding in myself, I pulled these pics from the archives. They took this trip during November of that year, so I felt like this would be a good time to share them.

After my gal pals left on Sunday, the sun was high and the air was warm and I just couldn't resist the urge to start that motor. So I ran a couple errands then rode down Hwy 231 until I met up with Harley who was on his way back home. So you see... I wasn't completely skunked!

Have a nice Monday everyone!

As much as I love to really "get away from it all," I think the swamps are a little too far off the beaten path for this Yankee boy. I'm all set on getting up in the middle of the night to pee, turning on the light in the bathroom, and finding either an alligator or a "palmetto bug" that could be the star of a B horror movie waiting for me.

I have been on one of those airboats though, and they are a blast to ride in. The key is to not run out of gas or break down when the gators are hungry...

I think Joker's pretty much got my thoughts on the matter pegged!

One way or another I would find a way to get the bikes on that air-boat.

I've been lucky enough to ride on an airboat on the swamps in Louisiana and it is more than fun. As usual the pictures are top shelf. Thanks.

Joker... LOL! Those palmetto bugs will stalk you!! I hate those things too!

I have a cousin who moved from Iowa to Florida near the Orlando area, and she tells a tale of getting chased away from her clothes line by an alligator. She damn near packed it all up and moved back home that day!

Mrs. RC... The late great Steve Irwin made me less fearful, and more wise. But I would still have a loaded gun if I were to stay at that cabin. It's been too long since I brushed up on my wrestling moves. LOL!

Willy D... Bring your bungis!!

mq01... Can't get any more private than this! Talk about a quiet get away. I'm there too... in my dreams!

Mr. M... the guys said it was an awesome experience. They were lucky and got a boat captain/pilot who was pretty cool and gave them their monies worth. It was one of the highlights of their trip.

AZD... I'm like Mr. M... it's on MY bucket list too! I'm sure blowing around Cajun country was pretty cool. Hopefully, I'll be blogging about air boat rides real soon. But that would mean I'm on my road trip to the Keys! Yes!!

I was 14 and it was a blast. The cabin in the Glades... I'd do that in a heart beat. But then I've heard people say to me "You ain't right"
