IT'S BEGINNING TO LOOK ALOT LIKE CHRISTMAS...

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas... every where I go! I just love this time of year. I get into the decorations and festive atmosphere, while enjoying the hustle and bustle of getting everything ready for the biggest holiday of the year. Being a Midwestern transplant though, I get homesick for the cold and snow. ( I know some of you will think I'm crazy!) I have brother who lives in Florida now, and we were just talking about this the other day. He is of the same thought. It just doesn't feel like Christmas when it's 60 to 70 degrees outside! I know I tease some of you riders of the north, about how nice it is that we are able to ride all year long, but the grass is always greener on... no wait. Let's just say the snow is always whiter above the Mason Dixon Line!

Well, while I was in midstream with tree trimming last Sunday, Harley and I decided we needed to take off for a little putt on the scoots. I was all in favor. I have been feeling a little antsy lately, and that's when I realized I haven't been on my Glide since we came back from Chattanooga, the week before Thanksgiving! Shameful! So off we went.

As we made our way up the familiar roads we often ride on, I was noticing the wide variety of Christmas decorations that adorned homes along the way. I saw beautiful Christmas Wreaths hanging on doors and windows, Garland draped on fences and porch pillars, cut outs of Reindeer and Santa Clauses strategically placed in yards, and we can't leave out the ever popular life sized plastic Baby Jesus surrounded by his parents and the Three Wise Men that light up for better effect at nighttime.

I laughed out loud when we passed one place, that had so much stuff placed out on their property, that it looked liked a mine field of Christmas! I don't think there was an empty spot anywhere that did not have some ornamentation propped, hung or just laying there waiting to get blown up for the night. (Those hot inflatable balloon decos are becoming all the rage!) Some people go for simple and elegant, and then you've got those that think if the grass is showing, something needs to go there. They're the ones that land on the "Tacky Light Tour" every year sponsored by one of our local radio stations. Believe it or not, we actually have folks that strive to get on the route for the "Tacky Light Tour". They must be related to the Griswold Family!

None the less, we had a nice little ride while we took in the sights, and I enjoyed the break from trimming the tree, which still had to be done when I got home. Even though it was a bit chilly and overcast, getting out on the road was exactly what I needed. Riding seems to always be exactly what I need. I just wanted to share the Christmas spirit with you and I think I'll end this post with a little Christmas song. So, grab some hot chocolate or whatever you prefer, sit back in your chair, and enjoy the sweet sound of "White Christmas"... southern style!

Hope this inspires you to have a very Merry Christmas and as we say in the south... DECK THEM HALLS YA'LL!

(Thanks to Peek a Boo for providing us with our musical entertainment!)

Redneck Christmas...I love it.

It must be great to go Christmas sight-seeing on the bike. Thanx for taking me along. (I'm starting to go through withdrawals already!)

Pros and Cons. I'd love to be riding, but I can't imagine a Christmas without snow.

I love snow. That's why I left San Francisco Bay to move back to the backwoods of the Utah Wasatch Mountains. I have 10 inches on the ground right now and a huge storm rolling through. The colder the better.

Merry Christmas Y'all!

I just wish we could ever have a Christmas (or any day for that matter) without this rain/sleet/freezing rain/"wintery mix"! I swear I haven't seen the sun shine in a month!

Merry Christmas all!

Great video! Thanks for the laugh!

We'll be out on the bike tonight, enjoying the pretty lights. I'll try to get pics, but no promises. :)

That was the best rendition of White Christmas yet. Loved it.

Where do I sign up for the reindeer rides your advertising?

fasthair... I laughed pretty hard myself. Have to say I watched it more than once too. Poor snowman. LOL!

You have a very Merry Christmas too, fasthair. Hopefully, that slave driving boss you have will give you a little extra time off!

dean... I had you especially in mind when I decided to share my "southern style" Christmas carol. We southerners have our redneck reputations to uphold, ya know! (or as they say, when in Rome...)

As far as Christmas sight seeing goes... Friday night, about 9:30 P. M., while Harley and I were watching the tube, we heard a low rumble that got louder and louder. I jumped up to look out the window just in time to see, oh probably 6 to 8 motorcycles slowly riding down our neighborhood street. It was a totally awesome sound, kind of like quiet thunder that got louder, then softer again. We figured they were out looking at Christmas lights. It was almost 70 degrees, so it would have been a perfect night to ride. I said to Harley, "Hey they didn't invite us!"

Allen... Merry Christmas to you and A. I hope you have a nice holiday.

mr. m... your so right! Yippie, I can ride my motorcycle! Boo Hoo, it's Christmas without snow. :( Growing up in Iowa, even if we didn't have snow on the ground, there was always some kind of snow fall on Christmas Eve or Christmas day. It was magical, I tell ya!

masterchief... Sounds like good fort making. My brothers and I would make forts and have snow ball fights and make snow angels (not the kind B. B. has!) I really, really do miss the snow during this time of year. I was bummed, that my parents didn't have any on the ground while I was visiting them in Montana for Thanksgiving. I thought I would be able to get my snow fix!

mrs. rc... ah, "wintery mix". Shitty stuff! Sounds like it would make a good cocktail though. "I'll have a Wintery Mix on the rocks, please." Merry Christmas!

ann... hey, if I didn't know better, I would say that was you and Big D that rumbled through my neighborhood Friday night, looking at lights! Hope you had a nice night. The video cracked me up too. I'm not a big fan of Country Music, but it's worth suffering through. That redneck dog has some serious mating issues though. LOL! As I told fasthair, Frosty, the snowman didn't much appreciate it!

Willy D... I think all the reindeer are on strike. After being ravaged and raped by the dog, they had to hide to keep from getting buck shot up the you know what. As they ran away, I heard one of them say, "We didn't sign up for this redneck sh*t!"

I guess they all went back up North, but, if you see Rudolf, tell him Buford says Hi!

Yah. Your right. I lived in the south for 4 yrs or so. Christmas is more like Christmas with snow.

I finally watched the video, too funny.
I have to admit it, as much as I hate the snow, I agree, ever since I moved out here it never really feels like Christmas.

webster... We spent three Christmases in Puerto Rico while hubby and I were in the Navy. After we opened presents and had a good meal, we would meets friends at the beach, (which was practically in our back yard!) and swim and snorkel on Christmas day! I thought it was pretty cool at the time, but little did I know, that I would settle with my hubby in the south, and never see snow again! Arghh!

B.B... Glad you liked the video. I knew you were sick and demented like the rest of us. You can take the girl out of Tennessee, but you can't take Tennessee out of the girl! LOL!

Sorry, but if I never saw snow again, it would be too soon!
(Think about if you couldn't ride for 4-5 months. Ughh!)

Dean... I hear ya! I'm only whining about no snow because it's Christmas. Believe me when I say, before the last piece of confetti falls on New Years Eve, you'll not hear me speak of snow again! I hope I'll be bringing in the new year, riding!

BTW... just to share how fickle Mother Nature is here. We enjoyed warmish 70 degrees on Saturday. Today, (Monday) it's 29 degrees! It should stay cold a day or two before we get warmish again. But no snow.

I was out doing some last minute Christmas shopping yesterday. Temp was -4 with a -35 wind chill. Someone get me the hell outa here!

However, it did keep the crowds down in the stores. :)
